The Newton Family Tomb at Elmwood Cemetery was the first major restoration undertaken by the Society since its establishment in May 2013. The Newton Family Tomb is a type of memorial architecture known as an oven tomb as it resembles an old stone oven. Within the tomb, caskets are placed on shelves and, depending on the size of the tomb, several family members can be interred together. Photos of the restoration process (completed May 2014) are featured here. Special thanks to NSCC members and donors who made this restoration possible!!
